The National Museum of Iran has hosted over 250 visitors of the delegations participated in the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in the capital city of Tehran.

(Ahlul Bayt News Agency) - The National Museum of Iran has hosted over 250 visitors of the delegations participated in the 16th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) summit in the capital city of Tehran.

The visits were made on the sidelines of the NAM summit held from August 26 to 30, IRNA quoted Director of Iran’s National Museum Asadollah Mohammadpour as saying.

The delegations also enjoyed several short tours of Tehran arranged by the Cultural Heritage, Tourism and Handicrafts Organization (CHTHO).

The CHTHO also mounted a cultural exhibition titled ‘Iran’s Capabilities and Potentials in Tourism’ for NAM guests to present Iranian traditional arts and handicrafts.

The Iranian Handicrafts Union distributed about 20,000 copies of the country’s tourism catalogues on Persian handicrafts among NAM delegations during the sidelines of the program.

The NAM summit is an excellent opportunity to introduce Iranian traditional art and handicrafts to foreign guests, official in charge of the catalogues Mostafa Khoshabi had earlier noted.

Miniature, intarsia, earthenware, embroidery, jewelry, kilims, glassworks, inlaid works and embossed works were some of the Iranian handicrafts introduced in the catalogues.

Several nomadic black tents were also set up as part of the Iranian tourism attractions to introduce aspects of Iranian nomadic life to NAM visitors.

Many Iranian ethnic groups were dispatched to this cultural to perform their regional music and present their local cuisines during the 5-day summit.

NAM, an international organization with 120 member states and 21 observer countries, is considered as not formally aligned with or against any major power bloc.

The 16th summit of the NAM member states was held in the Iranian capital, Tehran, from August 26 to 31, 2012.
